Mambazham

‘Mambazham', a reality show based on Malayalam poetry, has entered its eighth season. The show, which claims to have brought in a rejuvenation of sorts with regard to Malayali culture and the language, has contestants reciting poems of Kumaran Asan in the new season.

‘Sandhya Ragam' is the story of Saudamini who finds herself torn between two men, Chakrapani and Prabhakaran. Saudamini loses her father and when life with her stepmother becomes harrowing, she turns to Chakrapani for support. But he turns his back on her since he doesn't want to spoil his acting career by marrying her. Saudamini goes to Prabhakaran who eventually marries her. Directed by Sivamohan Thampi, the cast has Mukundan, Yadukrishnan, M.R.Gopakumar, Prem Prakash, T.S. Raju, Anju Aravind, Vijayakumari and Rajeshwari. This serial goes on air on May 28.
Manassiloru Mazhavillu

This chat show has couples who did not go in for an ‘arranged marriage' talking about their romance and their marriage. The programme has completed 200 episodes. Dubbing artiste Bhagyalakshmi anchors the show.
Kasavuthattam
(Amrita, Thursday to Saturday, 11 p.m.)
A new reality show on Mappillapattu has 20 contestants who were selected after auditions in Dubai. The jury comprises V.M. Kutty, writer, composer and singer, V.T. Murali, an exponent of Malabar songs, and Cybella, Mappillapattu singer.
Devageetham- Middle East
(Amrita, Thursday to Saturday, 11.30 p.m.)
The second season of this reality show featuring Christian choir songs has eight choir groups, each with 15 musicians. The 75-episode show has a judging panel comprising Fr. Antony Uruliannikkal, singer-composer Alphonse Joseph, and lyricist Shibu Chakravarthy.
